Spolveriamo la puntina…
Indie rock, electro-pop, chanson: no men on the playlist.
Radio Vostok opened the channel on 5 October 2018, at the opening night of Animatou — a Geneva festival run by women — with a playlist drawn entirely from women and gender minorities, the first of its kind in Switzerland. It argued the case with French figures, since SUISA publishes no Swiss equivalent: women held 8 percent of composing credits, ran 10 percent of contemporary music venues and taught 12 percent of conservatory classes. The channel has run ad-free ever since, out of the parent's studio.
The selection keeps the parent's compass — guitars first, with electro-pop, chanson and punk rock around them — and sets long-established names beside artists on their first release, local and international in the same hour. La Grande Mess, live on the last Sunday of each month since September 2023, adds interviews, and Les Créatives and the Fondation Emilie Gourd help fund it.
Equal airtime, by decree.
