Bedroom pop, post-hardcore, and Poznań debuts.
It has been broadcasting since 1971, which makes it older than every commercial station in the country and about as old as the Piotrowo campus it sits on. Poznań University of Technology's academic radio reached FM in 1990, took 98.6 and has held the frequency since, and added an internet stream in 2002. The traffic through it is the point: journalists who started here went on to work across Polish media, and the station's own line is that a person can leave Afera but Afera never leaves the person.
More than thirty author shows run every week, term time or not, and the brief is rock and alternative with young Polish bands given first go at a debut. Płyta Tygodnia puts one record at the centre of each week, often a Polish debut, from guitar indie pop wired into synths to space-age concept albums, with heavier post-hardcore turning up in between.
Fifty years of student shifts.
