Cassette-label noise and improv from the high Pyrenees.
CAMP Radio comes out of CAMP, a residential arts school in the Ariège mountains that runs masterclasses with the likes of Chris Watson, Christina Kubisch, Gavin Bryars, Laraaji, Anne Bean, Laure Prouvost and Eli Keszler. The station broadcasts from that same building, and the remit it sets itself is deliberately unreconciled: drones alongside poetry, punk alongside grime, free playing alongside environmental recording, with nobody asked to explain how any of it fits together.
Slots are handed to labels, artists and magazines, who each keep their own: The Wire holds one, and so do Ashtray Navigations, Astral Social Club, Golden Lab Recordings, Sicsic Tapes, Crow Vs Crow, Guttersnipe and Muyassar Kurdi. Around them run From Bonfire Hill, Cold Distant Dreams, Anti-Authoritarian ASMR and Random Jukebox, each held by whoever devised it.
An art school with a transmitter.
