Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
The Utrecht underground, in full sound and vision.
Stefan Starke started Stranded FM in 2015, naming it and its palm-tree logo after the place he was living at the time, and it has moved around Utrecht from room to room ever since — Kanaleneiland, Europalaan, Hardebollenstraat, and later the stairwell of the print studio Kapitaal at Paardenveld. It is a non-profit foundation paid for by monthly members rather than by anyone buying time, and it has worked with TivoliVredenburg, EKKO, Gaudeamus, Lowlands and Le Guess Who? along the way.
More than eighty-five shows have come through, none of them formatted: SWANA Sira on the music of South West Asia and North Africa, Stranded in Jamaica, More Poetry Is Needed, and The Niche, The Weird & The Somewhat Obscure, which is the house style in a title. The point, as they put it, is a stage for the part of the Utrecht scene nobody has heard yet.
Radio with the lights on.
