Dusting off the needle…
Dub, rave, and ambient from the edge of the périphérique.
Collectif MU opened La Station — Gare des Mines in 2016 on a derelict coal depot at the point where Paris, Saint-Denis and Aubervilliers run into each other, and put a radio inside it the following September. Nine people coordinate the thing and about eighty residents make the programmes, with struggles and margins written into the editorial line rather than left to chance. A mobile broadcast cart carries the studio out to schools, estates and street corners around it.
Every weekday opens with a Matinale that changes subject as the week goes: politics and margins on Monday, queer and feminist production on Wednesday, documentary and sound work on Friday. After that it is dub on the rocks, INTO THE BLACK: A RAVE JOURNEY, Sieste ambient, Metaclassique, and L'envolée, a bulletin read into and out of the French prison system.
The party takes a position.
