Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Disco, funk and whatever the host turned up with.
Incapable Staircase broadcasts out of a barrack block at Maker Heights, on Cornwall's Rame Peninsula, where a decommissioned military site has spent the decades since filling up with studios and galleries instead of soldiers. The station is one tenant among them. Its two dozen and more regular presenters mostly are not: they broadcast from wherever they happen to live, which across the roster means Plymouth just across the water, Bristol, London, Wiltshire and a stretch of Ibiza.
What they add up to is disco and funk more often than anything else, then house, soul, reggae, ska, hip-hop, country and a good deal of guitar music. Shows carry their hosts' names rather than a slot label — Winty and Antony's French Cinema, Chris D Stacey's Don't Panic! — and every one of them is kept afterwards, more than eight thousand of them so far.
Everyone brings their own crate.
