R2 RockR2 Rock

Rock is the one R2 Extra channel that had to wait. When Raadio 2 opened its web lists in spring 2021 it launched rap first, then Estonian, pop and alternative, and rock was still being announced as coming soon that October. What eventually went up draws on the parent station's long-running metal and hard rock hours, Metallion among them, but strips out the hosts, the guests and the interviews, and simply leaves the records running end to end with nothing at all in between them.

The range is wide and mostly retrospective: seventies prog and classic rock sit near nu-metal, gothic metal and German industrial metal, with hardcore-tinged alternative rock and desert stoner rock filling the middle. Estonian guitar music keeps its place too, from arena rock to the local alternative scene, which is the part no other rock stream anywhere is going to play.
