Gothenburg's two campuses, one frequency, new music.
Broadcasting started in May 1979 under the name FFS95, merged with Chalmers' own student station in 1987, and passed through Studentradion GFS and Kampus103 before settling on K103. It is the only student outlet in the city serving both the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers, which matters more here than it sounds: the university is scattered across Gothenburg with no single quarter to gather in, and the station has spent decades pitching itself as the thing that joins it up.
Just over two hundred volunteers work in around forty editorial desks out of Götabergsgatan 17, and thirty of the fifty scheduled hours are music. Göteborg Alternative Hour tracks the city's indie, punk, hardcore, garage and metal, Hip & Jazz handles the other end, Club K103 gives Saturday nights to visiting DJs, and Polygondwanaland takes a different genre every episode.
Engineers and poets, same mic.
