Get Known Radio started in 2024 on a single editorial premise: most of the best new hip-hop, electronic and R&B never reaches the playlists that decide what gets heard, so somebody should put it on air anyway. It runs out of New York, listener-supported and attached to no label, with collaborators in Detroit and London covering weekend programming and tour coverage. Nothing about the operation is large, which is exactly the point — the filter here is a person's taste rather than a chart position.

What reaches air is regional rap from cities outside the obvious few, R&B from independent producers, and the club end of things — UK garage, Jersey club, footwork, baile funk, amapiano and the hybrids between them. Nobody buys their way in: paid placement does not exist here, and a record with unclear sample clearance stays off. Submissions that miss are kept on file for later.
