Demoscene radio: chiptune, SID and party compos.
SceneSat has been on air since 2008, built by sceners for sceners rather than as a programme about them. It runs as SceneSat ideell förening, a Swedish non-profit whose membership is closed to the people who actually staff it and whose bills are paid by listener donations. A good part of what it does is turn up: Revision, Evoke, TRSAC, Nordlicht, Mountainbytes and Xenium all get live audio and video, so anyone who cannot make the trip still hears the compos and the results as they happen.
What plays between the parties is scene music in the widest sense — tracked tunes and chiptune, retro game music, C64 and Amiga remixes, netlabel releases of any genre, with demoparty winners, Amiga trackers and fan remix collectives all in one rotation. The Chip SID Show has run to a long string of editions with Max Hall, and The ZINE Radio Show, Soothing Sounds and Cozy Corner hold slots of their own.
The scene talking to itself.
