Happy hardcore, chiptune and whatever lands next.
Tony Miller started Datafruits in 2012 as a home for internet radio and netlabel people, and it has stayed cooperatively owned ever since — a self-governing collective that votes on its own direction, with volunteer moderators and a code of conduct doing the rest. It has carried no sponsorship and no advertising in all that time; listeners and artists fund it instead. Members are scattered across the United States, Tokyo and Seoul, and the crew wrote the station's software themselves and open-sourced it as StreamPusher.
The charter is blunt: little to no curation, and any song can be played. In practice that means happy hardcore running into ambient running into chiptune, with shows like earthworks, Krankent Weekly Mix, craft_radio, Virtual Reality Club and Vibe It Out held by the hosts who made them. Around the stream sit a forum, a wiki, and SHRIMPO, the compilation contests the community enters.
Owned by everyone who shows up.
