Slow-moving ambient soundscapes for focus and rest.
Serenity is the quietest of the Radio Paradise channels, an ambient stream from the listener-supported station that Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith began in Paradise, California, in February 2000 and later moved to Eureka. Where the other channels are built from hand-picked records, Serenity plays music made for it, long pieces credited to Rule 42 and grouped into a numbered series called Ambient Explorations, which a Radio Paradise staffer has described as generative work made in-house on modular synthesizers.
Each piece runs for a quarter of an hour or so and takes its title from something in the night sky, a star, an asteroid, a comet or a distant galaxy cluster, so an afternoon can drift from one corner of the sky to another without a single hard edge. Short station announcements fall between the pieces, and that is all there is, no presenters and nothing to pull your focus.
Put it on and forget the clock.
