Hip-hop, funk, and global grooves, non-stop and ad-free.
Radio Krimi started in 2011 as one man's stream — Seb, a DJ since he was thirteen, pushing his finds at a handful of friends — and only became a station when listeners in California, Brazil and across Europe turned up uninvited. It runs as a declared French association with around twenty people behind it, deliberately unfunded by advertising: membership subscriptions and merchandise pay the bills instead, and the reason given is editorial rather than financial. A record label followed, putting out hip-hop and Afro-Caribbean records.
The through-line is groove rather than genre — hip-hop and beats into funk, soul and jazz, then Jamaican and Caribbean sides, cumbia, afrobeat and records pulled from Lebanon, Nigeria and Japan. Music runs unbroken between the shows: the weekly Krimi Show, thematic slots from the rest of the crew spread through the month, and every episode kept afterwards on Mixcloud.
