Bass, techno and dub drift, routed through Guadalajara.
Internet Public Radio has been putting mixes online from Guadalajara since 2020, and the resident roster it has built since is scattered well beyond Jalisco. Slots go to DJs, musicians and visual artists in roughly equal measure, and month-long residencies have gone to the London label PC Music, the Chilean independent electronic association IME, and Out:numbered, a Monterrey show that only plays music from the global south. Very little of it originates in the city the station broadcasts from.
The sound leans club and bass — techno, dub, dubstep and UK garage — with ambient, new age and fourth-world drift filling the slower hours. Diemeyem's Varieté Mix collects garage, grime and breakbeat once a month; DEATHRADIO and Facade Electronics take the small hours; Debe Ser Confuso and Miti Miti keep it in Spanish; and Hot Lips Groove Machine handles the disco end.
The city is just the postmark.
