De naald wordt afgestoft…
Dubstep, metal and jazz, all on one public frequency.
The lineage runs back to Rádio Elán, an afternoon youth block the Slovak state broadcaster started in 1987. Rock FM Rádio followed in 1991 as the country's first rock station, and on 3 November 2004 Rádio_FM took over its frequencies — presented as a clean break rather than a rename, and aimed at what it calls a more demanding, young-thinking listener. It goes out from the inverted pyramid on Mýtna in Bratislava, the Slovak Radio building, as part of the public broadcaster STVR.
Its own list runs from indie rock through dubstep, hip-hop, world music and metal to dance electronic and jazz, and the schedule bears that out: Headbanger_FM takes the metal, Mental_FM the slow ambient and art-pop end, and Hudba sveta_FM the world music, each with its own weekly slot. The Radio_Head Awards grew out of it, and Pohoda_FM stages live sets in Štúdio č. 5.
New Slovak music, first.
