Past Inside the Present began in the middle of 2018 as a music blog, which is a modest enough start for something that has since run past eighty catalogue numbers. It moved fairly quickly from writing about ambient records to releasing them, and works out of Indianapolis pairing musicians from all over with its own stable of visual artists and engineers. The phrase it uses for the approach is posterity over profit, and the radio station follows from that rather than from any business case.

What plays is the label's own catalogue, thousands of tracks deep and running without interruption or advertising of any kind. The range is modern ambient and drone with a good deal of modern classical and processed instrument in it, the sort of quiet music the label describes as inventive rather than merely calm. Everything played links back to where the artist sells it.
