Kirchdorf an der Krems got its free radio on 102.3 in October 2008, and it runs the way the Austrian charter says: no advertising, no ratings pressure, open access to anyone who wants an hour. The motto is Wir sind, was du draus machst — we are what you make of it. When nobody is live at the desk a hand-sorted daily playlist takes over, genre-crossing on purpose, and a trackservice lets you find afterwards whatever it was you heard. Aufghorcht gives fifteen minutes a day to a single band or genre.

Mark T. has run Radio Ohm's live DJ sets through disco, house and techno for decades. Shaken Audio is an association of DJs and audiophile engineers set on keeping Kremstal club culture alive, and it deals only in drum and bass. Josef Haindorfer builds valve amplifiers and gives a weekly show to fifties and sixties rarities; the Kurzmanns do country and line dance with the children in the studio.
