Vilnius University put it on 94.2 FM on 12 September 2005 with thirty-two shows and a staff of forty drawn from campuses across the city, none of them paid and no sponsor behind any of it. Within six months the whole thing had run out of direction; by March 2006 the author-led programmes were cancelled and the staff had been cut to a single person. That collapse turned out to be the format — stripped back to non-commercial music only, it took the Lithuanian alternative music awards' special prize in 2008 as the only station worth listening to.

The grid rebuilt itself around a dozen or so weekly hosts, and it sprawls: After Midnight runs deep house, Šaltas Prakaitas dubstep and jungle, Senos Temos old-school rap, Artimi Toliai North African folk, Punktyrai anarcho punk, and Country Muzikos Renesansas exactly what it says. Since 2009 it has also taped concerts at the Vilnius clubs Bermudai, XI20 and Musė.
