Avant-garde Skopje, cult following, no frequency.
Kanal 103 went on air in May 1991 as an oddity inside the state broadcaster MRT — tolerated rather than authorised, and never quite regularised in the decades that followed. Regulators finally took 103.0 away in 2019 on exactly that technicality, and Стотројка has run online since. A University of Ljubljana academic wrote that nobody else in Skopje played its range, from post-rock to modern techno. A weekly show returned to MRT in 2025, the first formal arrangement with the broadcaster it had spent so long inside.
Its album-of-the-year lists put drone and slow ambient next to post-punk and indie rock, with spiritual jazz and club electronics in between. Most evenings go to presenters who each run their own lane, while a curated playlist carries the night. The Стотројка label puts out Macedonian electronic records alongside the radio, and a crew spent June 2026 in residency at Berlin's Cashmere Radio.
Thirty-five years of not fitting.
