Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Sixty years of deep cuts, every one of them vinyl.
The Record Selector broadcasts out of Hermann's Attic, an antique mall on East 1st Street in the river town of Hermann, Missouri, and everything it plays comes off records kept in that building. The operator had been doing versions of this for years under other names, as Five by Five and as The B-Side, before settling on this one and starting to post episodes in the summer of 2017. He has never put his name on any of it, which leaves the collection itself as the only thing on offer, and sixty-odd years deep.
Between the live shows, entire record sides go up each day and the whole library runs on shuffle, so a 60s garage single can be followed by honky-tonk, then classic soul, then something off a 90s alternative album nobody bought. The live broadcasts are archived rather than lost, the numbered episodes sitting alongside the older shows he made under his previous names.
One collection, no playlist.
