Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Rome's movement radio, off the FM band now.
It started in 1978 as Radio Proletaria, transmitting on 88.9 from the attic of a building in Casal Bruciato that had been taken during the mass housing occupations of 1974 — the address it has broadcast from ever since, now as the Associazione Culturale Dissociazione. The name changed to Radio Città Aperta in the nineties; the brief did not, and airtime has gone to the unemployed, house occupiers, migrants, workers and women since 1978, much of that time on FM and the rest online.
Chameleon gives a weekly morning to black music, soul through blues into jazz and funk. Groovy Times calls its two hours no borders grooves and means it: jazz, funk, reggae, dub, disco, rock, punk, afrobeat, electro. 33X2 plays two albums end to end each week, one new and one old, and Alternitalia has followed Italian alternative records since 1995.
Voices the mainstream skips over.
