Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Emo, punk and the Polish indie nobody else plays.
It calls itself Warsaw's oldest student station and has run without a break since 2004, out of two rooms in the Riviera hall of residence on Waryńskiego. Warsaw University of Technology is the host, but the people filling the schedule come from universities right across the city, and the remit they were handed is culture, science and student life rather than engineering. Some two dozen author shows carry it, from a rap hour to a musicals review to a weekly three groszy on the economy.
The centre of gravity is Polish and independent. Płyta Tygodnia has picked more than two hundred albums of the week, mostly young Polish guitar bands, art-pop songwriters and emo-leaning debuts, and the archive holds over three hundred recordings, most of them interviews with acts on their first or second single. RA Studyjnie brings those acts in for stripped-back live sessions.
Engineering school, humanities ears.
