Dusting off the needle…
Indie rock, post-punk and 45s from a Santiago collective.
Super45 spent more than twenty years making radio programmes across Chilean FM before putting its own signal online, on the grounds that the dial's musical offering had thinned to nothing. Three of them — Claudio Ruiz, Cristian Araya Salamanca and Rodrigo Ferrari — built it; a dozen or more programme it, with Pato Morales on continuity and post-production and Sofía García-Huidobro and Natalia Del Campo lending the voices. It runs around the clock, carries no advertising, and is paid for entirely by the people listening.
The editorial line stretches from sixties revisionism to contemporary electronic experiment, which sounds vague until you hear an hour of it: New York noise rock into Britpop, Manchester post-punk into a northern soul floor-filler, then the hazy American indie and freak folk of the 2000s. Nothing is chosen to hold you there; the point is the record you would never have known to look for.
Twenty years of FM, now free of it.
