Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Electro, boogie, and rare groove from the 1982 label.
Street Sounds was a British compilation label before it was a radio station — the name has been printed on record sleeves since 1982, and the station bills itself as more than four decades in the making. It runs 24 hours a day with a line-up of DJs and presenters drawn from across the UK and beyond, each holding a named slot: Andy Jackson, Tez Barnes, Wayne C McDonald, Victor Anderson, Sam Shelley and the rest across the week. Every show goes up on Mixcloud afterwards for anyone who missed it.
The music is the catalogue the label built its name on: soul and funk, jazz-funk and boogie, electro and old-school hip-hop, disco, rare groove, R&B and soulful house. Classics sit alongside forgotten gems, rarities and re-edits, and a second channel, Crucial, carries old-school hip-hop and electro on its own around the clock, through the website and app only.
