Dusting off the needle…
Soul, funk and deep house, running without a break.
An association in Baden, in the Aargau north-west of Zurich, runs this one, and it is funded the way small Swiss clubs usually are: forty francs a year from members, one-off donations from anyone else, and nothing sold to advertisers in between. Its first birthday and the launch of its website were both marked with one and the same party, and the statutes lodged in German are about the only formal thing around it. What it offers in place of airtime is the absence of interruption.
The programme repeats identically every day of the week, which suits what it is for: lounge through the small hours, grooves for the working morning, a quieter stretch at midday, disco and funk across the afternoon, jazz funk into the evening, then blues and deep funk overnight. House keeps its own run of hours — deep, tech, organic and soulful. Nothing is announced and no voice comes between the records.
On all day, never in the way.
