Cagliari, 1995, on 96.8 across the south of Sardinia and within reach of some six hundred thousand people — but the people who run it have never much liked the word station. What they describe instead is a community built around art and communication that happens to use a transmitter, and which spends as much time in the city's venues as in the studio, from the Jazzino to Area 14 inside the Amsicora stadium. In September 2016 it opened the Radio X Social Club and moved into the EXMA arts centre.

Jazz Alarm is the flagship, and its summer sessions put Sardinian jazz groups, from quintets to groove collectives, on the Social Club stage. CinematiCA has run to several hundred episodes on music written for film, Special Herbs works through breaks, samples and the records they were lifted from, and Brasile Segreto digs for rare Brazilian records.
