Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Specialist obsessions, from jazz to metal to radio drama.
It first transmitted on 31 October 1980, on 103.9, as one of the pirate stations that went up against the Belgian state's monopoly on the air; the people behind it had concluded that whole subjects and art forms were simply missing from official radio. It has since moved to 106.7 and DAB+, from a studio by Het Steen, and has never taken advertising: every programme maker pays a monthly fee into the station instead, so the people on air are the ones paying for it, and supporters chip in too.
That leaves the grid to whatever its makers are deepest into: Kiss My Jazz, Lokaal Metaal, Huren is voor de buren for Balkan records and their neighbours, Oikos setting environmental reporting against vinyl, Suplydelica and OORMuseum further out. The hoorspel collective puts out radio drama as well, among it an hour on Anna Maria van Schurman scored for nyckelharpa.
Still pirates, just licensed.
