Dusting off the needle…
Belgrade's gallery-born web radio: disco, reggae, Balkan.
It started in November 2016 inside Kolektiv, a gallery on Karađorđeva in Savamala, as a side project of the architects who ran the space — Zoran Dimitrović among them — on the argument that Belgrade's alternative scene had nowhere to broadcast from. People turned up asking to make their own shows, and within a year the schedule carried the city's record collectors alongside its NGO sector, with an audience well past Serbia. In January 2020 the studio moved to Drinčićeva in Dorćol.
Four strands run in parallel: socially engaged talk, music, culture and education, and outright entertainment, all of it volunteer-made. Reggae Fever and Disko buvljak have been there from early on, Groove Variations and Soulful Grooves work the funk and soul end, Podzemlje and Piratski satelit dig underground, and the Balkan World Music Chart counts down the region's own records.
Independent, in a city short of it.
