Metal, classic rock and krautrock from Trois-Rivières.
CFOU got its CRTC licence on 15 April 1997 and went on air on 89.1 FM on 1 September that year from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, and in 2006 it was cleared to go from 250 to 3,000 watts. It is a French-language, non-profit campus station run by student and community volunteers under a programme director, and its mission is to play the styles commercial radio in the region leaves out and to give new Quebec talent, especially from the Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec, a first break.
Hard rock and metal are its loudest corner, with Metal DNA, Subversion le Metal Show, Réanimation and the hardcore show Au centre du pit, and Rock Classique has passed 1,400 episodes over thirty years. Around them sit prog rock, krautrock and experimental hours, world music, French rap, Quebec indie, country and K-pop, plus science and current-affairs magazines.
The Mauricie's loudest campus.
