Ambient, techno, and leftfield from a Kyiv container.
Serge Taranovskiy was a graphic designer who had found Amsterdam's Red Light Radio and wanted Kyiv to have something like it; Dima Isaenko had a twenty-foot shipping container he was using as a showroom for his backpack brand. They put the two together in December 2016 with a third partner, Vitaliy Nemchenko, parking it at the Nyzhnoyurkivska complex — a former ribbon-weaving factory — and were broadcasting by the following year. In 2023 the station moved a few blocks to a garden on Kyrylivska Street.
Ambient, experimental and leftfield dominate the archive, with techno, house, bass and breakbeat behind them, and every slot goes to a guest DJ, producer or collector rather than a presenter. HUM, Hybrid Moment, Secrets Revealed and Iriy.frequencies are the recurring strands, and the station works with labels like Mystictrax and Ornithology. It has never taken advertising.
Still on air, war and all.
