Jazzy trip hop and heavyweight Dutch sound system dub.
YouRadio put a test stream online in the last days of 2019 and began a full programme on 1 February 2020. Its makers describe it as something to keep busy with through the corona years that simply never got switched off. Vital Versions joined in May 2020 as a weekly Friday session of dub and reggae, and by late 2021 it had grown extended XL editions broadcast live from Amsterdam, which have since settled on first Fridays at Earth Works, a record shop and vinyl cutting studio in Amsterdam-Noord.
Most of the week runs on themed blocks put together by hand, jazz and trip hop through the day with plenty of reggae mixed in, and the quietest soul and jazz records after midnight. Saturday nights go to dubstep and jungle. Evenings belong to hosts, among them Gamma Krush with a weekly underground hip hop mixtape from Canada and Kaptein Krunsh, who digs out odd and lovely records.
Nobody here is selling anything.
