This year's records, from beat tapes to indie rock.
Tout nouveau, tout FIP was one of the six webradios FIP put online on 5 January 2016 for its 45th birthday, and the one built around newness rather than a sound, taking new artists and recent discoveries from across everything the main station plays. It has since become FIP Nouveautés, and its own tagline sums up the bet, that you only hear these on FIP for now, but tomorrow... The programmers pick every track by hand, as they do for the main station, and nobody talks over any of it, not even to say what just played.
Nearly everything in rotation came out within the past year or so, drawn from a pool of a couple of hundred artists, and each new track comes back several times a day. Instrumental and lo-fi hip hop sits next to indie rock and pop, new soul and a fair amount of jazz, with dub and Brazilian records turning up between them and French and Belgian names all through it.
First listen, no hype attached.
