Hamburg's indie station: new guitars, electro, and the Kiez.
When 917 XFM shut at the end of 2021, three of its people — Gunnar Astrup, Maike Holzhaus and Hannes Erdmann, a director, a music director and an operations chief — took the idea somewhere else, and on 25 May the following year ahoy went on air with Lars Meier of the Gute Leude Fabrik agency behind it. It ran as a webstream and an app first; DAB+ followed on channel 12C, four kilowatts off the Heinrich-Hertz-Turm. The office is on Ludwigstraße in the Schanzenviertel, and the slogan is Gutes Radio für Gute Leude.
New additions lean on indie rock, alt-pop and young songwriters, with an album of the week picked out, with German-language records and the Hamburg scene given weight the charts would not give them. Around the music: Band Fragen Bingo puts short questions to bands, a Hamburg personality gets an hour of their own every fortnight, and theme days clear seven hours for one subject.
Moin, with better records.
