De naald wordt afgestoft…
Techno, ambient, and urbanism from Tempelhof's gatehouse.
THF Radio broadcasts from the Torhaus, the small building at the entrance to Tempelhof, the airport Berlin shut in 2008 and turned into a park. It began as a pilot in the summer of 2019 and has run properly since 2020. It is non-profit and describes itself as intersectional, anti-sexist and anti-racist, and it works as three things at once: a meeting point for live music and DJs, a room for experiments, and a mouthpiece for anyone with a stake in the argument over what should become of the vast building behind it.
Three formats set the tone: a queer-feminist radio night, a series on who gets included in the music scene, and Live @ THF Radio for bands and DJs playing in the room. Residents arrive through open calls rather than invitation, and a feedback address goes to a single person of trust, who can pass criticism on anonymously. The Torhaus around it is self-managed on the same principle.
Runway closed, radio open.
