Twenty-four-hour takeovers, from disco to drone.
FA2 is KFAI's second channel, carried on the HD2 subcarrier beside the 90.3 signal and streamed on its own. The main grid has been full since 1978 — dozens of weekly programs built by volunteers, in ten languages, with a waiting list behind them — so the second stream is where the station puts whatever needs more room than an hour: marathons, premieres, live remotes, and the ideas a host would rather spend an entire day on than squeeze into a one-hour slot somewhere on a Tuesday.
The format is the day-long takeover. Every 12 July it runs Disco Never Died Day, marking the anniversary of Disco Demolition Night with a full rotation of DJs, and other years have brought 24 Hours of Frenchness, Twin Cities New Wave Day, a twenty-five-hour Black History Month takeover, and a live broadcast of the whole Drone Not Drones marathon.
