Ibiza's back catalogue: house, Balearic and deep.
Ibiza Global Classics went on air on 25 April 2024, launched by Grupo Prensa Pitiusa on 92.4 FM during IMS week and timed to Ibiza Global Radio's twentieth birthday. Igor Marijuan, who co-founded the parent station in 2004 and directs this one too, set the split plainly: the older frequency carries the island's present and its future, and this one carries the part that has already happened. The opening day ran eight hours straight, with DJs from either end of that span, Timo Maas among them.
The brief is the records that became Ibiza's songs of the summer across the last two or three decades — house, Balearic and the dance tracks that outlasted the season which made them. Marijuan's line at the launch was that electronic music need not always be a synonym for partying, and the channel is programmed to match: no residents' grid, no guest hours, just the catalogue.
The seasons that stuck.
