Organic house, earthy and in no hurry at all.
Michael Reese has run Hirschmilch out of Hamburg since 31 December 2008, free and non-commercial, adding channels one at a time as the music kept splitting into new rooms. Organic-House is one of the newer ones and the station has never published the year it opened, but it answers a real need: the producers working this sound had nowhere on the dial that was not a club channel. Since 2010 listeners have voted tracks up and down, and those votes feed straight into what plays next.
The sound leans on hand percussion, field recordings and instruments that were played rather than programmed, sitting at a tempo that suits late afternoon better than midnight. The All Day I Dream and Sol Selectas end of the scene is well represented, along with the Turkish and Argentine producers who have largely defined it. Melodies are long, drums stay soft, and almost nothing here resolves in under seven minutes.
Desert-tent music, indoors.
