Aspeeetta...
Spolveriamo la puntina…
Birmingham's music, arts and conversation, 24/7.
It came together in the summer of 2015, pitched to its first recruits in a bar as the non-commercial station the city did not yet have, and it has run on volunteers ever since. The studio sits in the Warehouse on Allison Street in Digbeth, the building Birmingham Friends of the Earth keeps, which is roughly the right address for a station whose presenter list runs to DJs, comedians, promoters, poets and musicians rather than career broadcasters. It also keeps rooms that members can book.
Guitars carry most of it: Mike Davies, who ran the punk show on Radio 1, presents Alternative Roots, and Lost In The Supermarket works the indie and post-punk end most weeks. Around that sit Polyrhythms and Square One on jazz, Roots2Love on reggae, Random Acts of Kindness, and strands that leave music entirely — Interval Theatre, Brum Radio Poets.
The alternative sound of Brum.
