Aspeeetta...
Spolveriamo la puntina…
Bright ambient for the waking half of the day.
Andrew Klimek and Angela Klimek run three ambient stations and a small record label, Stereoscenic, out of Cleveland, and this is the one that was built for daylight. Ambient Sleeping Pill came first, in January 2013, out of a playlist he had been keeping since a college radio show on Rutgers' WRSU. Once that station had settled into its own very particular register, the obvious gap was everything too bright to belong on it, and a.m. ambient is where all of that material ended up living instead.
The remit is ambient that leans positive rather than pensive, which in practice means more light in the upper register, fewer long grey drones and none of the material that reads as brooding. It stays beat-free and is meant to sit behind whatever else you are doing, just at an hour when nobody is trying to fall asleep, which is the whole difference from its older sibling.
The sun-up side of the label.
