Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Global groove from Lille, dug up and dusted off.
The SupaGroovalistic collective put it on air on 11 March 2017, wanting one continuous stream built around groove rather than a schedule of separate tastes, and it has run without a break since. The studio is at Cours Saint-So, the old railway goods hall on the south side of Lille, staffed live from Wednesday to Saturday between four and ten in the evening. The association behind it takes no advertising at all, running on donations and the parties it throws around the city.
The continuous playlist moves between soul, hip-hop, house and funk and the Brazilian, African and disco records the collective keeps turning up, yesterday's finds next to this month's releases. On top of that sit around twenty regular shows, hosted by collectives and selectors from the region and well beyond it — Berlin, Brussels, Buenos Aires — most of them recorded live in the room.
Crate depth, no gatekeeping.
