Dusting off the needle…
Record diggers, storytellers, and psych oddities.
Daniel Nathan has been building radio stations since Kiss FM in London, Manchester and Leeds, and later Surf FM, Festival Radio and the early internet outfit Totally Radio. This is the one he made for himself, run out of two rooms the city already used: nights from inside The Actors in Kemptown, days from upstairs at Family Store Records in the North Laine. Platform B CIC, registered in Brighton in 2015, sits behind it, and the DAB signal reaches Manchester, Portsmouth and Norwich as well as home.
The Brian Turner Show deals in garbage guitars, shorted electronics and found detritus; Graham Duff hunts Bandcamp for mutant musical forms; Swimming In Sound pairs two veterans of the original post-punk bands. Adder FM digs out women and queer artists nobody wrote down, Mixed Tapes backs independent musicians of colour, and Adrift commissions a piece for each episode.
Brighton's attic, wired for sound.
