House, dub techno, and balearic drift, Belgrade to Berlin.
RADIO.D59B went live on the first day of 2018, started by two lifelong friends and the younger sister who grew up alongside them and whose taste, by their own account, is the most important part of the station's sensibility. It has run 24 hours a day ever since, split between Belgrade and Berlin, with no regular funding behind it — the shows are paid for by listeners and friends, and the roster deliberately mixes acclaimed artists with enthusiasts who have no professional standing at all, billed the same way.
Every show on the site carries its own tags, which is the fastest way to see the range: NSTC works dub techno, electro and techno with Marko Nastic; HIGH TIDE, LOW LIGHTS moves through AOR, new age and street soul; SOUND TRAVELS covers afrobeat, jazz funk and Latin. Balearic is the connective tissue, holding slow disco, chillout and broken beats together.
Two cities, one record bag.
