Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Ambient at dawn, broken beat by noon, techno late.
Robert Miles had long outrun Children by the time he started this in 2013, and OpenLab was his answer to where the music he actually cared about could live, so he and his business partner David Ravden built a station around innovative but listenable work instead of a format. Miles died in 2017 and the signal went quiet with him. Members of the original team brought it back on 1 May 2019, led now by Quentin Chambers, still on 106.4 FM across Ibiza and Formentera and still paid for by the people listening rather than by anyone buying airtime.
The day is built as a curve, not a grid. It opens on ambient and modern classical before dawn, moves through indie and folk in the morning, turns to beats, jazz and hip hop across the afternoon, gives the sunset hours to chillout and saves electro and techno for late on a Saturday. Named shows like Jacuzzi Breaks, Quantum Sonics and Hypnotronik sit in the gaps, and every track logs its label and a link to buy it.
The island with the volume down.
