Die Nadel wird entstaubt…
Horror scores, dub techno and late-night dread.
The Dream Machine has been Intergalactic FM's after-hours channel since the network first broadcast from The Hague on 22 August 2008, aimed from the start at soundtracks and exotica rather than the floor. It runs on the same Stichting Hotmix foundation and the same listener money as its siblings, which is what has kept a format no advertiser would buy on air ever since. The network's separate ambient channel, The Garden, closed in 2017, leaving this one to carry the slow end of the network alone.
A night might open on an end-title cue from a 1974 thriller, pass through dub techno, a horror score lifted off an eighties video nasty, and a modular synth record issued on cassette in an edition of three hundred. Industrial and power electronics turn up wherever the ambient thins out, and the whole thing runs unattended, without a voice over the top of it at any point.
For the hours nobody claims.
