Sound art, drone and talk from a Rotterdam art space.
Lukas Simonis ran the first Radio WORM as a way of getting WORM Sound Studio residencies heard — commissioned pieces broadcast on Concertzender and pressed to CD, copies of which ended up scattered around the studio. Then it went quiet for about a decade. In 2019 Simonis and Lieuwe Zelle started broadcasting again out of the WORM office, and when COVID shut that down a small crew moved into the Pirate Bay booth, which is where it grew into a full station with residents of its own.
Ash Kilmartin took over the programming, with an intern a year and an open call for new shows once or twice a year; nothing goes into random rotation. A hundred-odd residents cover drone, noise, field recording and free improvisation, but also disco, rap, trad and opera. It spills off the stream into the 25 Hour Radio Relay, Delta Listening and live broadcasts from Rewire.
Home for what fits nowhere else.
