Radio as an art form, curious by mandate, since 1986.
It started in 1986 in the Bellevue quarter of Saint-Herblain, first as Fun FM, then Parpaing FM, before the name settled, and it has treated radio as a medium to make things in ever since rather than a pipe for other people's records. The Sonolab, its education arm, runs some fifty projects a year with schools and neighbourhood groups, and the station co-organises the [Sonor] festival. For the fortieth anniversary in 2026 it programmed listening sessions and radio performances.
Radio Réveil opens each weekday at seven with two quiet hours. The contemporary ensemble 0 has held the first Wednesday of the month since 2015, Annagram takes the second with playlists sorted by mood, season and weather, and the Playlists strand — ECM reissues, recent finds, four hours in the ocean — is assembled by hand and, in the station's words, never algorithmically.
