Boom bap, graffiti and uncensored rap from Bogotá.
Radio Bajo Fondo has been running out of Bogotá since 2012, a date stamped on its own crowned monogram, and it calls itself Rapdio rather than radio. The work is compilation: numbered mixtape volumes drawn from the Colombian and the wider Spanish-language underground, each with cover art of its own and given away free. Raw Cuts: The Underground Chronicles has run past twenty volumes, one of them dedicated to the writers who treat a wall as a page rather than a surface.
Those tapes are what airs, end to end — boom bap and classic-era rap in Spanish, uncensored and weighted toward the hard end of it. The Masterz Lyrics series runs alongside Raw Cuts, and the station is blunt about the intended use: not something to leave on in the background, but the record you put on before heading out with a bag full of spray cans.
Twenty-five mixtapes, still free.
