Modern blues rock, big guitars and bigger voices.
Pinguin Blues is one of Pinguin Radio's genre streams, a family that began in 2011 with an indie station built by people from the old Kink FM and grew into channels for single genres and listening moods. Each is curated by someone who knows the genre well, and Blues leans on that more than most, since its rotation follows a working scene of touring guitar players rather than a list of greatest hits. Like the rest of Pinguin it runs without presenters or ad breaks, on donations and sponsorship.
Blues rock is the backbone, the modern guitar-led kind with long solos and big voices, next to electric and Chicago blues from the older masters and a good amount of British blues and its descendants. Dutch and Belgian blues bands get regular airtime among the American and British names, and the odd soul-blues or gospel-tinged side cools things down between the guitar workouts.
Solos welcome, encores expected.
