A group of researchers at the European University Institute started the station in March 2020, weeks into lockdown, and ran it remotely from their flats before it had a studio at all. The name is Italian for cabbage, which is also how the place talks about itself: it hopes to grow small sprouts of creativity and silliness wherever it can. Anyone can bring a show or send in a playlist, so the week has no shape to speak of. Brains Upside Down handles punk, Rock Around the World takes the rest of the guitars, The Donut of the Heart fills the odd gap. Between them the rotation digs worldwide: French dub, Ghanaian psych-funk, German new wave, sample-heavy jazz-funk, nineties reggae-soul and a Polish rock record.
