Techno, electro, and noise from Budapest's fringes.
Lahmacun started in 2018 to put Budapest's subcultures on air, and it works out of a community hall on a former factory site in the eighth district, alongside the other cultural and social projects that share the building. It is a non-profit with no income beyond donations, which cover the studio rent and the servers, and it belongs to the Independent Community Radio Network — holding that network of stations together is part of the stated point, not just broadcasting.
The industrial edges are the giveaway: EBM, cold wave, minimal synth and musique concrète all hold slots, and the week makes room for free jazz, kraut rock, folk dance and literature. Presenters file from Brussels, Edinburgh, Berlin, San Francisco and Belgrade, shows are swapped with Radio Kapital, Cashmere Radio and IDA Radio, and there are compilations with Dalmata Daniel.
Nothing here is background.
